Bali Picture Gallery

On this page are some of the other pictures I took while on my Bali trip. They didn't fit on the other page, the way I formatted it and the subjects I choose to address there. So they are here. With some brief commentary, where appropriate.

Me at the VolcanoMe versus the volcano. Yes, Bali has a volcano. I don't remember if it is dormant or not. But, as a group, we went to see it. We ate a restaurant at the volcano - I think this is a favorite tourist destination because there were lots of tour buses and other tourists there along with us.

As you can see, I came prepared - fanny pack, camera, belt to carry it all on. Looks like I am ready to handle just about everything.

The volcano was the furthest out we went on the tour. At the volcano, we turned around and headed back to Kuta.

Farming in BaliI thought this picture was kind of interesting. And very representative of the life the rural Balinese have. Those are water buffalo, if I remember correctly, out there in the rice field with the farmer.

Bali House

On one of the optional tours, we were allowed to see a family compound. The Balinese don't have houses like we have. At least, this family didn't. They had a compound with several platforms and the family temple. The temple is not pictured but you can kind of see the entrance to it in the back of the picture.

Each platform is like a room. There was a kitchen platform, several bedroom platforms, and so on. The person you see in the picture is Ari, our tour guide for the entire time we were in Bali.

Rice Fields

Like many other countries in this part of the world, rice is a diet staple. There are rice fields everywhere. I took several pictures of various rice fields, but this was the most unusual rice field. And I liked it.

The temple pictures. Religion is a big thing in Bali. Not all of the Balinese are Hindu, but most are. And there are temples everywhere. Each village has 3, each home has one. And offerings are placed on sidewalks, boats, temples, patios, balconies, and so on each and every day. The following pictures are of some of the temples I visited. They all have names, but I could not tell you which picture is from which temple I visited.
