Ayung River Rafting - Thursday, March 2
Rafting was done on the Ayung River. The river was muddy because of the recent and frequent rains. My clothes were filthy at the end of the trip. I was picked up from the hotel and driven out in the middle of nowhere. The driver picked up other people from other hotels around Kuta as well, so I was not alone. I ended up in a raft with 3 others from Hungary. I don't remember the men's names, but Judy was the woman. And we had a guide (who had the inauspicious name of Stinky) with us as well, a total of 5 of us in the boat. Thank God for the guide, because I almost tumlbed out of the raft a few times and he managed to keep me inside it. We were the last or final boat on our trip, out of 6, because Stinky was the trip leader. As you can see in the above picture, which I obviously did not take, we had a good time. That's me, pretty much smack dab in the middle. Judy is the woman across from me and Stinky is in the rear of the boat. I had a water-proof camera with me (you can see that as well), but it wasn't so water-proof. The pictures did not come out very good, so I am not displaying any of them. Which is unfortunate as, according to my notes, we passed some beautiful rain forrest scenery comprised of waterfalls, butterflys, trees, the river (of course), and some very lush plant life. |
