Yellowstone - September
1-8, 2006

Yellowstone
Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
I have
lots of pictures of Yellowstone Canyon from this trip. Which only makes
sense as I camped at the Canyon Campground.
This
is my third trip to Yellowstone, and my second in as many years. I visited
in 2005 as well but found that I could
not adequately visit the Park and do all that I wanted in the 3 days
I was here. So here I am again. Last year, I camped in the West; this
year, I am in the East. Last year, I spent most of my time in the Southwest
portion of the Park; this year, I went everywhere else. Last year, I
was hobbled by an ankle injury; this year, no injuries. Hooray!
Prior
to arriving at Yellowstone this year, I did a 3-4 stop at Cedar Breaks
National Monument in Utah. Cedar Breaks is at very high altitude (over
10,000 feet I believe). It was sunny and cool, but great for hiking.
Not that Cedar Breaks boasts all that much land over which to hike.
But I managed to hike what I could and see what there was to see.
I spent
3 more days at Yellowstone before heading south to Dinosaur National
Monument. Dinosaur was disappointing. The visitor's center was closed
because it was structurally unsound. The portion of the Monument in
Colorado was enveloped in fog and mist; I was unable to see anything.
The upshot of all of this is no pictures from Dinosaur. I will have
to plan a return visit at some point.
