Yosemite National Park

Until 2001, during my 37th birthday, I had never before visited Yosemite National Park. This surprises me then and now - after all, California is my home state and Yosemite is only one days' drive from my home. But there it is.

Since 2001, I have visited 4 times:

  • 2003 - a quick swing through the Park on my way from the Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park in the western Sierra Nevada mountains to Mammoth in the east
  • 2004 - a planned, 5-day camping trip in Tuolumne Meadows in the eastern part of the Park
  • 2007 - a planned 2-day trip in Tuolumne Meadows as part of a larger camping trip throughout the state of California
  • 2008 - a planned, 4-day camping trip in Yosemite Valley in which I visited pretty much every part of the Park (except Wawona)

I have spent most of my time exploring the wonders of the Yosemite Wilderness in the east in the Tuolumne Meadows area; most of what you will see here is from there. My most recent trip was spent mainly in Yosemite Valley; while a beautiful place, it is very congested and I didn't enjoy my time there quite so much as I do in the higher Sierras.
