Cathleen at Grand CanytonWelcome to my website. And, in case you didn't know or this is your first time here, this is the webpage of Cathleen. (That's me over there on the left at the Grand Canyon.)

This particular page, which I have dubbed the "Main Page" is actually the way you will get to the other parts of the website. It changes as I see fit and depending on what I feel it should look like and contain on any given day. I will try to keep it somewhat consistent so, if you are a frequent visitor, you don't get too confused. In and of itself, it is not difficult to move about the website. Below are the main sections, each under its own heading (complete with picture! oh my!) and a short blurb about that section. Most of the content of my website can be found under the My Travels section.

My News

News. Well, let's see. I have had issues with my feet since the weekend before Thanksgiving, 2008, and my hiking has been curtailed. It started with one foot and then the other got hurt in March; I was just given the go-ahead by the doctor to start walking for exercise again after being in a cast for 2 months. Feet still hurt, however.

I have been working on my fall vacation for 2009. I got excited when the doctor told me I could walk again. I wasn't going to do a camping vacation this year but changed my mind and am heading off to Zion, the Grand Canyon, and Lake Powell in October.

Be sure and watch the PBS show about the National Park (see widget on the right).

My Cats

I have 3 at this writing - Ethan, Lucy, and Noelle (that's her over on the left). They are alternating between adorable and aggravating.

Aggravating in that Ethan has been biting Lucy, causing her great physical (read Abcesses and Infections) and emotional (read Running and Hiding) distress. Which causes me distress. Interestingly enough, Ethan leaves Noelle alone.

Adorable in that Noelle (at least) is always there at the door when I get home for a tummy rub. Gotta love it when your animals are just so happy to see you when you get home every day.

My Travels

World MapI do like to travel about. You get to see a lot of spectacular things, some man-made but some only mother nature could make. You get to do a lot of things you normally don't get to do in everyday life; at least things I don't get to do in my everyday life. And there are a lot of interesting people out there.

I have traveled a lot in the US - been to every state but 2 (those 4 being Arkansas and North Dakota). I have also traveled to Europe, China, Central America, and Indonesia, and had a brief visit to Puerto Rico. Lately my travels have been confined to areas I can reach by car and return home within a week or two, ie the Western United States, Canada, and Mexico. And I have discovered that there is a lot of wonderful things to see in those areas.

In 2009 I have already trekked to the East Coast to do what I call "The History Tour". I had always wanted to do so, and I finally did it. There are still many historical sites and sights to visit, however, so I can see a future trip in the making.

Later this fall, I am driving off to visit portions of The Grand Circle - places I didn't really get to before.

My Family

My brother and his wife have a new family addition as of June 30.

Little Gabriella has joined them and their two sons, Brian and Brandon. On my brother's 44th birthday, no less. That is some birthday present. Everyone - mom, baby, father, and the two big brothers - is doing great!

I went to the hospital twice to visit (and, of course, hold the baby). The first day, she was very solid but seems to have lost a little bit of weight since. She opened her eyes on the second visit (and her second day on earth); the picture on the left is the best I have with her eyes open. She also currently has an amazing head of hair.
